Welcome to The Gov Shack LIVE, where I outline real solutions for New York State and how I would fix them as Governor of New York. Today we\u2019re digging into one of New York\u2019s biggest crises: sky-high rents \u2014 and whether Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani\u2019s proposal to freeze rent will actually help or make things worse.<\/p>\n

If rents are frozen, will Mamdani be forced to bail out landlords to keep buildings from collapsing financially? Will he fine property owners who can’t afford to comply? And if landlords can\u2019t pay their bills, how will they maintain buildings, avoid foreclosure, or prevent further housing shortages?<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll also discuss proposals to ban private equity from investing in NYC housing \u2014 how would you even enforce that? And if developers can\u2019t make money, who will build the new housing New York desperately needs?<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll break down what will work, what won\u2019t, and how we can reduce rents and expand housing without raising taxes or creating more harmful regulations. There will be LIVE comments and questions throughout the show.<\/p>\n
